Earth Day means the City of Windsor is reopening the Ojibway Nature Centre for the first time since the pandemic started.
The centre on Matchette Road opens at noon for nature lovers until 5 p.m. It will officially open for the start of the season next Wednesday when it will resume its regular hours Wednesday through to Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

LaSalle kicks off its Earth Day celebration on Friday with the "Let's Clean-Up LaSalle," which encourages the community to pick up litter along trails and in parks. The Town will provide the gloves and garbage bags.
"This is a new opportunity for residents and organizations of LaSalle to share their love of nature and pride in our town by working as a team to clean up LaSalle," said Mayor Marc Bondy.
Those who participate can work individually or in a group and pick a date and location between April 22 and 24.
In Tecumseh, residents will plant 100 trees in the naturalized area of Lakewood Park North to celebrate Earth Day.
"We are investing in our community and our future on Earth Day by planting trees in one of our signature parks," Mayor Gary McNamara said. "We are striving to make every day Earth Day in Tecumseh by taking steps like this to make our town a green and environmentally sustainable place to live, work and play."
According to Earthday.org, the first Earth Day was held in 1970, marking the birth of the modern environmental movement.
The publication of Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring" in 1962 set the stage for a growing environmental awareness where air pollution was accepted as the price of economic prosperity.
In 1969, a junior senator from Wisconsin took inspiration from the student anti-war movement and announced a teach-in on college campuses across the U.S. Gaylord Nelson, along with Republican Congressman Pete McCloskey, recruited activist Denis Hayes to organize the first events on April 22.
