The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Foundation plans to launch a major fundraising campaign to support the children and families it serves today and in the future too.
The goal of the Children, Youth & Families, Strength for Today -- Opportunities for Tomorrow campaign is to raise $1.5-million over three years.
It will support existing programs and fund new initiatives to reduce the financial and emotional hardships and provide them with opportunities for success.
"At the heart of the campaign is to offer hope and resources to make a difference for the families served by the Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society," said Executive Director Derrick Drouillard. "The foundation and society are working hand in hand to provide opportunities for families to achieve their goals and overcome their challenges. Families know best what they need. We are here to help."
Many children and youth in Windsor-Essex face hurdles.
The foundation said one in five children and youth live in low-income families, and two-thirds of youth are on the verge of aging out of mental health programs.
"This is a campaign about all of us providing the tolls to those who with the proper resources will have the means to grow and prosper," said Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society Board President Cheryl Sprague. "It is a campaign of hope and a vision for a better tomorrow."
