The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has said fewer patients are being treated for COVID-19 in area hospitals.
As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, there were at least 47 people with COVID in the region's three hospital systems, a slight dip from 53 on Tuesday.
Forty-one of those cases are at Windsor Regional Hospital, with 31 of those patients admitted primarily for COVID-19. Out of those 41 people, 37 of them have been fully vaccinated.
Three people at WRH are in intensive care, and only one of them has not been fully vaccinated.
Erie Shores Healthcare reported just six patients at last check, with all except one being primarily treated for the virus. Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare has not publicly reported patient numbers since the end of March.
An increase in new high-risk cases was reported Wednesday by the health unit, with 108 new cases. The active caseload is relatively stable at 364.
The health unit is currently monitoring 27 active outbreaks, with 19 in long-term care or retirement facilities, four in the community, three in hospitals, and one in a workplace.
