Local businesses and organizations are looking to hire students through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
Over 1,200 positions are available in a number of different fields in the community. All opportunities are reserved for people aged 15 to 30.
"These are tremendous opportunities for young people to get that first job experience, to earn some extra income to pay for rent and for post-secondary schooling and really just have a quality job experience," said Windsor-Tecumseh MP Irek Kusmierczyk.
Each year the City of Windsor takes advantage of the program to hire students in the city's parks department, as well as environmental planning, public works, and Windsor Public Library. A total of 107 students will be hired this year.
Other organizations getting funding through the program include Wildlife Preservation Canada, Autism Services, The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, and the UHC Hub of Opportunities.
"Without this help, our teams in the summer would likely have been halved. It's definitely helped us increase capacity to do the important work that we do," said Jonathan Choquette with Wildlife Preservation Canada.
