Leamington woman hoping to raise $100,000 for Ukraine

A Leamington woman is spearheading a campaign to raise $100,000 for Caritas-Ukraine, a Catholic Humanitarian Aid organization.

Mandi Quiring started the campaign after an anonymous donor approached her with a commitment to match anything she raised up to $100,000.

Quiring turned to the Erie Shores South Catholic Family of Parishes and the Catholic Women’s League to help organize fundraisers to reach her goal. To date they have organized a number of sandwich fundraisers and are planning a ‘bread sharing campaign.’ An event that encourages people to donate a service which people can then purchase by donation. All money will go toward the overall fundraising goal.

Quiring said it's all about working as a community toward a common goal.

“It’s amazing to see how much good can be done when we work together,” said Quiring. “I think it’s the duty of the community to tackle challenges together.”

Local schools are also getting involved in the fundraiser through a mustard seed challenge.

Donations can be made through the Erie Shores South Catholic Family of Parishes or through the fundraising website.
