Windsor-Essex business donates flooring to Habitat for Humanity

A new project by the local Habitat for Humanity chapter is being helped along by a donation from a local business.

Floor Coverings International has donated $2,500 worth of flooring to the charity for use with the current build project in Windsor's Ford City neighbourhood. Habitat for Humanity was on hand at the Tecumseh branch of the business on Friday to pick up the donation.

"We are so grateful for the support that we have received, and continue to receive, from our friends at Floor Coverings International," said Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex Operations Director Pamela Breault. "Every donation, every sale, helps provide safe, decent, affordable homeownership opportunities in our community."

The donation is part of the Tecumseh location's 30th anniversary.

"Our entire team is thrilled to support local charities”, said Floor Coverings International Tecumseh co-owner Bill Wellings in a media release. "It is really important for us to give back to our community, and we really appreciate the fact that all donations support local families."

The flooring will first head to Habitat's ReStore, which helps support the organization's builds financially. The Ford City build project for this year consists of three new homes along Henry Ford Centre Drive in Ford City.
