Museum Windsor is looking for historic artifacts connected to Hiram Walker, the Walker legacy, the Canadian Club, and all things connected to the history of rum-running and prohibition.
The museum is planning a temporary exhibition titled "Windsor's Prohibition History" for the summer of 2024.
"When we think about prohibition, of course, alcohol production, rum-running, this kind of speak-easy blind-pigs situation. But anything in relation to that period, clothing, articles, documents anything that tells the story of what is happening during that time period in Windsor we're more than happy to see," said Craig Capacchione, Museum Windsor exhibition coordinator.
Anyone with artifacts to donate can call Museum Windsor to arrange a donation appointment. Items can also be loaned to the museum for the exhibition.
"We definitely take in temporary loans for all of our exhibitions," said Capacchione. "There's no need to give up any of these items. If you've got a great piece we're more than happy to take in on loan for the period of the exhibition."
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens has personally been collecting memorabilia for three years, he says he will make the collection available for the exhibition. He's calling on everyone in the community to search their attics and basements for memorabilia.
