Windsor-built minivan sales strong in quarter two

The second quarter of 2022 showed an increase in sales for Stellantis vehicles, including those made in Windsor.

According to Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Canada's second-quarter sales figures, released Monday, total sales rose 17 per cent in Canada, with an 18 per cent increase reported for retail sales.

"I’m proud of the work our team is doing every day to counteract supply chain and shipping headwinds in order to deliver vehicles to our customers nationwide," said FCA Canada President and CEO David Buckingham.

For year-to-date sales, an overall increase of four per cent in retail sales was reported, with a total of 89,771 vehicles sold in comparison to the same six-month period in 2021.

The three Windsor-built Chrysler minivans sold well during the quarter, with FCA Canada reporting that the Chrysler Grand Caravan, Pacifica, and Pacifica Hybrid's combined sales set a company-wide second-quarter record, and at 3,227 vehicles sold, doubled Q-2 2021's take.

The lower-end Grand Caravan had a 90 per cent year-to-year increase, selling 1,164 vehicles in the second quarter. The higher-end Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid reported a 131 per cent increase, selling a combined 2,063, with the hybrid PHEV model accounting for one-third of all Pacifica sales during the quarter.

Jeep continues to lead FCA's sales in Canada, with a 29 per cent jump in Q-2 sales. The Wrangler 4xe, a plug-in hybrid, is the best-selling hybrid in the country.
