Collision Reporting Centre changing hands

The Windsor Police Service is finalizing an agreement with a new service provider to operate the collision reporting centre.

The Collision Reporting Centres of North America terminated its agreement and will stop operating the centre as of July 27.

"In the transition period, we will maintain the centre. It's actually something we used to do, the Windsor Police used to operate the centre on its own," said Acting Police Chief Jason Bellaire.

Bellaire said they are still finalizing the details of a contract with a new service provider. However, he expects there to be some cost savings and efficiencies found with the new provider.

"We do believe with our new partner we are going to find some efficiencies in a technical way that will allow for officers on the front line to spend more time on the road and less time doing some of the I.T. actions that they had to do to complete these reports," said Bellaire.
