Two arrested after Amherstburg robbery

Police from Windsor's Amherstburg detachment say two people have been charged after a business was robbed Wednesday.

Officers were called to the business on Sandwich Street South near Pickering Drive at around 4 p.m. Witnesses told police that a suspect brandished a knife and made threats toward an employee.

According to Constable Bianca Jackson, the suspect left the store still holding the knife and tried to enter a waiting vehicle.

The suspect was quickly arrested and the stolen items were recovered with no injuries reported.

A 27-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with robbery and possession of stolen property.

Officers soon learned that the alleged getaway vehicle and the licence plate had been reported stolen. A man seen in the driver's seat, a 43-year-old Tecumseh man, was arrested. He is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property and was released with a future court date.

The charges have not been proven in court.
