The $10-million construction project continues on Banwell Road.
Phase 1 is now complete and included improvements from Tecumseh Road to Palmetto Street.
Phase 2 includes the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection where Wildwood Drive and Mulberry Drive meet Banwell Road. There will also be a new sidewalk and multi-use trail added from Palmetto Street to the new roundabout. Finally, the new road includes new storm sewers, asphalt pavement, curbs, gutters, and new streetlights.
"Phase 2 has already started, the work will continue into 2023 with the roundabout being the last of the installation completed in 2023," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens
City Engineer Paul Mourad said a roundabout was selected for the intersection to improve traffic flow in the area.
"Because of the amount of traffic, it provides the smoothest way to get traffic through this corridor versus having a signalized intersection," said Mourad.
This phase of the project will cost about $6.5 million to complete.
