Sawed-off rifle found during search warrant in Windsor

Windsor Police have recovered a stolen firearm, and a 37-year-old man faces a long list of gun-related charges after officers searched a home and three vehicles.

Officers from the Windsor Police Service Drugs and Guns Unit got a search warrant for a home and the vehicles on Labadie Road near Ontario Street last Thursday.

A sawed-off rifle, reported stolen in 2019 in the Greater Toronto Area, was inside one of the vehicles on the property.

During the search, police also found a woman who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

The suspect faces nine charges, including possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of a loaded firearm with no license, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, and occupying a vehicle with a loaded prohibited weapon.

Anyone with information that could help police with their investigation can call the Drugs and Guns Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4361, Crime Stoppers at 1-519-258-8477, or leave a tip online.
