Windsor police say two people seen on video allegedly passing counterfeit money have been arrested.
Officers were called on Tuesday around 7 p.m. to a business on Tecumseh Road East near Lauzon Parkway. It was reported that two people entered the business and made three separate transactions, allegedly using a counterfeit $50 bill each time.
The pair was arrested without incident Thursday evening, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.
The 25-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, both from Windsor, have been charged with fraud under $5,000. They were released with an undertaking for a future court date.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Police are encouraging local businesses to get familiar with the intricacies of currency, including US money. Any business owner who believes they have been passed counterfeit money is encouraged to call the Windsor police Financial Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4330.
