A flood watch has been issued for Essex, Kingsville, and Leamington due to a sudden storm Thursday afternoon.
The thunderstorm formed near the Essex urban center. It developed with little to no warning and had the potential for 50 to 100 mm of rainfall in a short period of time.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority warns small, localized areas may experience some flooding in low-lying urban or rural areas.
The flood watch will stay in effect until 10 a.m. on Friday.
