At least one mayor in the County of Essex will stay the same after the election in October
No one has filed papers to run against long-time Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. The Deputy Mayor's position is also uncontested, only Joe Bachetti has filed papers for the position. A full list of candidates running for councillor positions can be found here.
In the Town of LaSalle, only Crystal Meloche has filed to run for the position of mayor. Current Mayor Marc Bondy decided not to run again. For the deputy mayor position, only Michael Akpata is seeking the role. A full list of candidates running for council positions can be found here.
In the Town of Essex, two familiar names are running for mayor. Sherry Bondy and Richard Meloche both want the top job. Meloche has been sitting as mayor since Larry Snively resigned early in 2022. A full list of candidates can be found here.
The Town of Kingsville will definitely have a new mayor come October. Nelson Santos resigned from the role in July. Tamara Stomp, Laura Lucier, and Dennis Rogers are all hoping to take his place. A full list of candidates can be found here.
Amherstburg will also have a new mayor in the fall. Mayor Aldo DiCarlo decided not to run for another term. Frank Cerasa, Bob Razankovic, John Laframboise, and Michael Prue are all running to take over the position. A full list of candidates can be found here.
In Lakeshore, Mayor Tom Bain is running for another term. He faces current Deputy Mayor Tracey Bailey this election. A full list of candidates can be found here.
Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald has two challengers in the upcoming election. Cris Biron and Jimmy Simoni are both in the running for the position. A full list of candidates can be found here.
The nomination lists will be certified on Monday. The municipal election is on October 24, 2022.
