OPP arrest impaired driver in Lakeshore

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a Lakeshore man following an incident Thursday afternoon.

Officers from the Lakeshore detachment were called shortly after 3 p.m. to St. Clair Road in Stoney Point. When they arrived, they noticed a sedan that had been blocked in by witnesses.

Upon investigation, police learned that the sedan's driver had veered onto the sidewalk, where people were walking nearby. Constable Steven Duguay said that no pedestrians were hit.

While speaking with the driver, officers suspected he was impaired and placed him under arrest for impaired driving. He was further tested at the detachment.

The 46-year-old Lakeshore man has been charged with operating while impaired, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and refusal to comply with an order.

The charges have not been proven in court. The man was released from custody and will have a chance to defend himself in a Windsor court on September 28.
