Council candidate wants more physician recruitment efforts

While many candidates are focusing on the new acute care hospital, Windsor Ward 7 candidate Angelo Marignani says he will focus on physician recruitment if elected to council.

He says he does support the hospital at the selected location, but the new hospital is still many years away and the region is experiencing a health care crisis now.

"What we need to do is use community incentive programs that we can use to attract physician and health care professionals to our area," said Marignani.

He says he also supports a 24/7 emergency department in the downtown area and would also like to see the Met campus be redeveloped as a specialist facility.

"What we really need to do is really focus on those areas that we're weak in and try to attract those physicians to our city using the city's community incentive programs," said Marignani.

Also running in Ward 7 are Sydney Brouillard-Coyle, Jeewen Gill, Greg Lemay, and Sophia Sevo.

Election Day is on October 24, 2022, but advanced voting starts this week.
