The Windsor International Film Festival benefitted from a $185,000 grant from the Ontario government this year.
"This funding specifically helped us have major tourism outreach for the festival making sure we're bringing visitors from across the province, across the country, and across the U.S.," said Vincent Georgie, Executive Director and Chief Programmer of WIFF. "That's been an enormous help in bringing us back in such a big way."
The film festival, currently underway, includes 177 feature films and more than 300 screenings.
The grant a Reconnect Ontario grant from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport. It helped to spread the word about the return of the festival.
"I’m thrilled that our government is supporting WIFF’s highly anticipated in-person return as a nationally recognized and industry-leading organization. I truly look forward to taking in some great films again this year together with WIFF’s attendees from Windsor-Essex and beyond,” said MPP Andrew Dowie.
