If you live in LaSalle, and hear your phone or computer going off tomorrow night, you'll now know why.
The Town will conduct a test of its alert system at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and encourages residents to sign up for the alerts.
In addition, LaSalle police and LaSalle fire officials have asked residents to let them know if they received an alert during the Tuesday night test. They need to know how effective the system is.
The Town says that an alert system is key for keeping residents safe and informed in an emergency.

"LaSalle Alerts is a mass notification system that enables us to provide you with critical information in times of emergency, such as the evacuation of a neighbourhood, a boil water advisory, a large fire, or a natural disaster," read the notice from the Town's official website.
According to the website, the most likely emergencies the Town may face are flooding, large fires that may put people in danger, winter storms, tornadoes, and issues with the transportation of hazardous materials. The alert system, however, will not be used for weather warnings that are issued by Environment Canada.
When residents sign up, they can choose how to receive them, by text, cellphone, email, or landline.
