The Town of LaSalle needs a name for its new waterfront development, and it's looking to the public for some suggestions.
The almost 60-acre property is on the west side of Front Road between Adams Lane and Ulster Street.
Eventually, the land will become a multi-use destination incorporating the town's English, French, and Indigenous history. The transformation will include an event centre, a temporary event plaza, water features, and a winter skating trail.
In July, town councillors decided not to use the Petite Cote Waterfront name. It also requested a meeting with members of the Maure Family. Gil Maure Park is located within the riverfront property.
The town is accepting submissions until the end of November. Three to six options will be presented to LaSalle Town Council early in the new year.
The town is looking for names based on the uniqueness and cultural significance of the development.
Submissions are limited to one per person, and any names regarding a family or individual will be subject to a police record check. Those submissions deemed inappropriate will be discarded.
