Canadian Snowbirds to return to Leamington next summer

Airshow fans in Windsor-Essex will have a fan favourite return to the region in August 2023.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, an airshow icon that has wowed audiences around the world for years, will be part of Wings Over Windsor, the first airshow to take place in the area since the Red Bull Invitational in 2009 on the Detroit River.

Brad Krewench, the founder and CEO of Adopt-a-Vet, told Windsor's Country morning show host Morgan Ryan that the airshow will be huge for the region.

"It's kind of awesome to have something coming back to this magnitude after COVID," said Krewench. "It gives families something to go see at a generally low cost."

Krewench said next summer's airshow will have one unique component to it.

"We're going to have it over the beach in Leamington," said Krewench. "It will be truly unique because it will be the only beach show in Canada where you can actually be in the water while watching the event."

Wings Over Windsor will have a named charity each year, with a rotating slate of four local non-profit organizations that will divide any proceeds. For 2023, the named charity will be Transition 2 Betterness.

The Snowbirds have included two southwestern Ontario stops for their 2023 tour, with London being the other one. The group has dates scheduled in all ten Canadian provinces next year, plus two in the U.S.

Wings Over Windsor will take place August 26 and 27 on Seacliff Beach in Leamington. Information can be found on the event's official Facebook page.
