New interactive mural unveiled

A new interactive mural highlighting some of the history of Walkerville has been unveiled.

The exterior restoration of the historical Albert Kahn-designed building on the corner of Wyandotte Street East and Devonshire Road is now complete.

As part of the restoration, a mural featuring historical figures connected to the area was commissioned by Rosati Development.

Artist Daniel Bombardier featured figures like architect Albert Kahn, Hiram Walker and Walkerville's last mayor Russell Farrow.

"There's so much history in the area that a lot of people don't know about and with this mural and potentially some more murals to come and interactive sites to come, we really hope to help share the story of Walkerville," said Vince Rosati, VP of Project Development.

The mural includes a QR code that links to a website that shares some interesting facts about the images featured in the mural.

"You can click on each point of the mural and discover some more of the history behind it. Why those people are there, why those icons are there and just some more information," said Rosati.

The Twisted Apron restaurant has already moved into the ground floor of the building with Wiser Wealth Management and MBL LLP Chartered Accountants on the upper level. Another restaurant will be moving into the vacant unit in the new year.
