What's open and closed in Windsor-Essex on Christmas weekend?

As we celebrate Christmas with family and friends, many employees of Windsor-Essex businesses will be off as well.

On Christmas Eve Saturday, most businesses will be closing early if they are not already, and the vast majority of places will be closed on Sunday, Christmas Day.

All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed, and may have specific hours all next week. Please contact your municipality for more information.

There will be no mail delivery Saturday or Sunday. All Service Ontario branches are closed as well, though some transactions can be performed online.

Select Beer Store locations will be open on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, and all outlets are closed Sunday. Selected LCBO locations are also open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Sunday.

For those of you wanting to complete last-minute holiday shopping, Devonshire Mall is open Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the same at Tecumseh Mall and Windsor Crossing outlet mall.

In the city of Windsor, Christmas tree pickup has been scheduled for the week of January 17, 2023.

The city's public drop-off and hazmat disposal depots are closed Saturday and Sunday.

The 211 Call Centre will operate 24/7 as usual. The 311 Call Centre is off on weekends.

All Windsor community centres and customer care branches are closed for the two days, with the exception of the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H-4) at Windsor Water World being open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Christmas Day.

There is no parking enforcement in Windsor on Christmas Day. Street parking will be free. Garages and service lots will charge for parking as usual.

Transit Windsor will run on modified schedules, with no tunnel bus to Detroit on Sunday. Check the website for specific information.

The Francois Baby House is closed through Monday, but open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday. The Chimczuk Museum is open Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday.
