Windsor's first baby of 2023 is a girl

Windsor’s first baby of 2023 was welcomed into the world in the early morning hours of January 1.

The baby girl, who does not have a name yet, was born at 1:24 a.m. at Windsor Regional Hospital.

The parents, Ashely Mears and Nicolass Bessem say they've got a few names in mind, but are taking some time to make sure they pick the right one.

She is Mears's fourth child.

The family's newest addition will be joining two other sisters and a brother.

“The delivery was a little rough, but the staff here at Windsor Regional Hospital were fantastic,” said Mears. “The nurses have been great. We couldn’t be happier."

The new baby weighed in at 8 pounds and one ounce.

"She is happy and healthy," read a statement from the hospital.
