Lakeside Produce files for bankruptcy

A large Leamington greenhouse grower has filed for bankruptcy.

Public documents show Lakeside Produce filed bankruptcy paperwork on January 17.

According to the documents, the company had $187,889.241.97 owing to creditors and $3,580,233 in total assets.

In 2016, the company received a $1-million grant from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund for an expansion to its facilities. It was expected to create 200 jobs on top of the 300 employees already working for the company.

The first meeting of creditors will be held on February 2, 2023.
