UPDATE: Suspect sought in Windsor assault

Windsor police now say a 38-year-old man is wanted after an assault Thursday afternoon.

It happened around noon Thursday in the area of Brant Street and Louis Avenue. Constable Bianca Jackson had previously told WindsorNewsToday.ca that a man had been assaulted. The victim is since been confirmed as a 51-year-old man, who was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have since identified the suspect as David Nelson.

Nelson is described as a White male, 5' 7" and 180 pounds.

Residents and business owners in the area are asked to check any security camera footage for anything unusual at that time, and notify police if they find something.

The investigation is ongoing., Police had closed a section of Marentette Road between Wyandotte East and Assumption Street, along with a stretch of Brant Street between Louis Avenue and Parent Avenue. The area is now open again.
