Many Windsor residents took to social media Sunday night when they spotted an unusual sight in the sky over the city.
A string of white lights appeared in the night sky around 6:40 p.m.
It's not surprising it caught so many's attention after NORAD shot down two unidentified objects flying over Canada over the weekend. However, the object over Windsor was much more mundane.
Denis Vida, a post-doctorate associate at Western University, who specializes in meteor physics, identified it as the launch of a series of Starlink satellites.
"That's Starlink, alright. The last launch was on 12 February 2023, 5:10 UTC, so that's probably that batch of satellites," he responded by email.
The satellites help connect remote regions of the world to the internet.
SpaceX and Twitter owner Elon Musk even joked about it Sunday evening.
Don’t worry, just some of my ? ? friends of mine stopping by …
