Artcite needs sponsors to continue operations

Artcite Inc. is looking for corporate sponsors to keep the doors open as it continues to struggle after the pandemic.

The artist-run centre offers emerging artists in the city space for workshops, community outreach, and professional development.

The not-for-profit organization has run on grants and community donations for the last 40 years. But the executive director says they were unable to fundraise for two years because of restrictions put in place.

“We realize the financial difficulties most people are feeling due to inflation, and an unpredictable economy, and expecting the community to donate their dollars to an artist-run center is unreasonable. This is exactly why we’re reaching out for corporate sponsorship," said Teajai Travis, executive director of Artcite. "We are calling out to corporate stakeholders in hopes they’ll consider sponsoring a wall inside the gallery. The funds will go directly into programming, and will have an immediate impact on the community and the artists we are working with.”

The organization said they can sponsor a wall for $20,000.

All donors will receive a charitable donation for their contribution, and a sign of appreciation with the company's logo will be installed on the sponsored wall.
