The Essex Region Conservation Authority wants you to stay away from conservation areas and trails until the ice from Wednesday night's storm has melted.
"The weight of this ice on tree branches can cause even healthy trees to fall," said Director of Conservation Services Kevin Money.
There is a risk to public safety should a tree fall, and many of the trails are slippery.
"For safety reasons, the public should avoid conservation areas and trails until this ice has melted and staff has had the opportunity to assess and remove hazard trees," Money continued.
Once the ice has melted, and it is safe to visit conservation areas and trails, guests are encouraged to call 519-971-2813 or email parkwatch@erca.org if they see a downed tree blocking a trail.
