UPDATE: Hydro repairs could continue into Friday

After thousands were left without power throughout Wednesday and Thursday evening, hydro crews have worked to repair most the damage left by an ice storm.

As of 10 p.m., Enwin said there are approximately 292 customers without power across the city in isolated pockets. Enwin. That's down from around 25,000 customers at the peak of the storm.

The largest outages were in the area of South Walkerville and the university, however, additional isolated pockets are also affected.

Enwin continues to work to get these issues resolved. But the utility company said some outages could persist well into Friday due to the nature of the damages.

Hydro One is working throughout the county to restore power. On Thursday morning, over 32,000 customers were still out this morning across Essex County, Kent County, and Aylmer. That number was down to 22,972 by 5 p.m.

Essex Powerlines is also dealing with several outages. Around 2,932 customers in Amherstburg and LaSalle were still without power at 5 p.m. Thursday.
