There are still thousands of Hydro One customers without power in Essex and Kent Counties, but the utility believes it'll have the lights back on by the end of the day.
Spokesperson Tiziana Beccaga told WindsorNewsToday.ca 10,500 customers were still waiting for power restoration as of Friday morning.
She said that's down from 82,000 at the height of Wednesday night's ice storm.
The majority of those impacted were in Essex and Kent Counties, and Aylmer, but there were outages elsewhere in Southern and Eastern Ontario.
E.L.K. Energy is still working on outages in the Kingsville, Lakeshore, and Essex area. It anticipates having the lights back on in Comber by 6 p.m.
Essex Powerlines has restored power to all of its customers.
In Windsor, there are still a few pockets in the city where the power is still out, but it was restored Friday morning in the South Windsor, South Cameron, and South Central areas. As of noon Friday, EnWin reported that there were 300 customers without power still, but that number could fluctuate as more damaged lines may be found.
