Fire crews were on the scene of a house fire Friday in Essex Centre.
Ontario Provincial Police say a section of Talbot Street South was closed shortly after 11 a.m. for a house fire on the corner of Talbot South and Brien Avenue West.
As Essex Fire and Rescue tackled the blaze, the OPP closed off an area bounded by Talbot Street South, Brien Avenue West, St. Paul Street, and Wellington Avenue West, asking drivers to avoid the area. Crews from two fire stations battled the fire.

Essex Fire says as of 3 p.m., the blaze was under control. The cause is undetermined with a damage estimate at $650,000. The occupants were not home at the time and no injuries were reported.
