While most parents and caregivers have already updated their child's immunization records, thousands of elementary school students face suspension from school.
The Windsor Essex County Health Unit said it still needs updated records for 3,190 students in kindergarten to grade 8, and the deadline is March 16.
It issued notices to more than 12,000 students in December, and three-quarters of parents and caregivers have complied.
Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, students who don't have up-to-date records face suspension for up to 20 days.
Getting kids immunized for diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, and chicken pox can be as easy as calling a family doctor. Those who don't have that option can book an appointment with the health unit online or by calling 519-960-0231.
Sometimes, the child is vaccinated, but the health unit isn't aware of the change. It's up to parents to report it.
Updated immunization information can be submitted online or by calling 519-960-0231 or 1-800-265-5822 ext. 1222.
