New home for Windsor's Soup Shack

Starting Thursday night, the Street Angels Soup Shack is back.

The new location is at the Lazarus Outreach Centre at 899 Wyandotte Street East.

The Soup Shack is open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night, serving hot soup, coffee, hot chocolate, and essential supplies for free to anyone in need.

"We want to thank the Harrow Rotary Club for ensuring the Soup Shack was moved to its new location, as well as the Circle of 7, who have provided ongoing financial support," said a release from Street Angels. "We also want to thank Tim Hortons at Wyandotte and Crawford for their continued generosity in providing warm beverages."

Street Angels and Feeding Windsor opened the converted camper last November to serve the city's homeless population.

At first, the Soup Shack was on Victoria Street at the Throne of Grace Church, but the church asked it to leave last month.

The Soup Shack serves between 40 and 50 patrons nightly.
