Tecumseh to pay $260,000 to fix pump station hit by vehicle

Tecumseh Town Council has signed off on spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair the Lesperance Road Storm Pump Station after a vehicle struck it earlier this month.

The driver suffered serious injuries when the vehicle slammed into the building on the evening of March 5 but still escaped before it caught fire.

D.C. McCloskey Engineering Ltd inspected the building on the corner of Riverside Drive East at Lesperance and estimated repairs will cost $260,000.

On Tuesday night, town administrators recommended councillors fund the cost through the Storm Lifecycle Reserve Fund so the work could get underway.

The town's insurer is working to recover the cost from the driver's insurance company.
