Two separate crashes, both allegedly involving alcohol

A Leamington man and another from McGregor face impaired driving charges after two separate crashes early Sunday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to the first just after 2 a.m. on 9th Concession Road in Tecumseh, where a vehicle was in a ditch.

While speaking with the driver, officers realized the man was impaired, so they arrested him and took him back to the detachment for further testing.

A 43-year-old McGregor man faces driving drunk charges.

A tow truck took his vehicle to an impound lot, where it will sit for the next week. His license is also suspended for 90 days.

Less than two hours later, the OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Askew Street in Leamington.

Once again, officers arrested a driver and took him back to the detachment for breath testing.

Now a 32-year-old Leamington man faces similar charges.

Meanwhile, a second Leamington man also faces impaired driving charges after he was refused service at a Beer Store over the noon hour on Sunday.

He allegedly drove away from the store on Erie Street South, but police found his vehicle on Elliott Street.

All three men were released from custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice later this month.

Police encourage drivers to give them a call if they suspect someone is behind the wheel impaired. The OPP's number is 1-888-310-1122. Crime Stoppers's phone number is 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
