Windsor police are hoping someone can help identify a man who allegedly stole a vehicle and put its owner in hospital.
The events began around 2 p.m. Monday on Tecumseh Road East near Tecumseh Mall. Officers were called to the location on a robbery complaint. When they arrived, they learned that a Saturn Vue sedan, which had been idling in a parking lot, had been stolen.
Police obtained surveillance video, which showed the suspect entering the vehicle and trying to drive away. The owner appeared and confronted the suspect, who struck another vehicle and dragged the owner a short distance. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Later, police were called to Jefferson Boulevard near Queen Elizabeth Drive on a report of gasoline theft. It turned out to be the same vehicle and suspect.
