Windsor spring yard waste pickup starts Monday

The City of Windsor officially starts its annual spring yard waste collection on Monday.

The city mailed out the bi-weekly pickup schedule, but if you haven't received it, call 311 to request one. Residents will also find it on the municipal website.

The city hopes residents will pay particular attention to the rules for branch bundling this year.

Branches should be securely bundled in four-foot lengths no larger than three feet in diameter and weighing no more than 50 lbs.

Thorny branches must be in a box or yard waste bag.

Do not use wire to tie the bundles up.

City crews will only pick up yard waste if it is in a paper yard waste bag, garbage can, cardboard box, or roll-out cart like a Herby-Curby. If it is in a plastic bag, it will not be collected.

Ensure branches and yard waste are on the curb by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day of yard waste collection.

Yard waste is composted, shredded, decomposed, and sold as compost. Anyone who wants more information about compost sales can call 1-800-563-3377.
