Art lovers hoping to see the work of one of the world's most famous artists have received some disappointing news.
The promoters of “Imagine Van Gogh, the Original Immersive Exhibition in Image Totale”, a fully-immersive exhibit of the work of Vincent Van Gogh, announced Thursday evening that it won't make it to Windsor this summer.
"Due to logistical issues and impossible time constraints, the Imagine Van Gogh exhibition will not be able to make it to Windsor this July as originally planned," read a post on the Windsor exhibit's Facebook page.
The post failed to get into specifics on what logistical issues the exhibit was facing. The event was due to take place from July 7 to September 8 at Central Park Athletics in Windsor.
Promoters say those who have already purchased tickets should have nothing to worry about.
"Anyone who has purchased tickets to the exhibition may be refunded at the point of purchase," read the post. "Tickets purchased online will be automatically refunded. Refunds will be applied to the credit card used for purchase and may take up to 15 days. No action is required; you do not need to contact us to receive a refund."
The exhibition was supposed to feature 200 of Van Gogh's paintings, presented through high-tech projectors on walls and floors, and accompanied by a musical soundtrack, creating an illusion for visitors who appear to walk through a constantly-changing experience.
The event stopped in London last year and was so popular that it was extended beyond its originally-scheduled run.
There was no word on when or if the exhibit will be in Windsor-Essex at a future date.
