A Windsor convenience store worker has been arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage girl inside the store's backroom last week.
According to police, on April 17, members of the Windsor Police Service Major Crimes Unit began an investigation after they were notified about an alleged sexual assault involving a minor.
During the incident, police say a 15-year-old girl had gone into a variety shop located on Howard Avenue near Erie Street East by herself when she was allegedly forced into a backroom by an male employee. The man reportedly locked her inside the room and sexually assaulted her. Eventually, the accused allowed the girl to leave the store, and police were called a short time later.
Following an investigation, police say the suspect was arrested at the store on Thursday, April 27.
A 46-year-old Windsor man is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and forcible confinement.
