Comerica Park Free Prix Day returns

A tradition that dates back more than four decades is returning to the streets of Detroit, and you're invited.

The Comerica Bank Free Prix Day kicks off the Detroit Grand Prix on June 2.

Fans can enjoy the opening day of the Grand Prix for free in downtown Detroit.

"As the Grand Prix returns to its original home on the streets of Downtown Detroit this summer, we are creating more ways for everyone to experience this event with over half of the circuit open and accessible for free," said the President of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Michael Montri. "One Comerica Bank Free Prix Day, we'll take that experience to the next level for fans with great viewing available in two of our grandstands completely free of charge."

Visitors this year will have access to more than half of the event's footprint throughout the weekend, including on-track action in grandstands 1 and 9 on June 2.

Seating in those grandstands that day will be general admission and first-come, first-serve.

All four series will be featured on June 2 as they practice on the 1.7-mile, nine-turn track.

Free access for fans on the first day of on-track action is unique to the Detroit Grand Prix. It began in 1982 when Detroit hosted the first race and has continued with the support of Comerica Bank for the past ten years.

Tickets to access the entire footprint of the event on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, are available online at www.DetroitGP.com or by calling 866-464-7749.
