Now that the City of Windsor has the new greenhouse at Jackson Park, crews are tearing down the old one in Lanspeary Park.
The greenhouse has served the city for over a century, but the new $7.5-million complex opened last July with more space, garden displays, and educational programming.
City officials plan to start demolition on Monday. The greenhouse should be gone by mid-May, and all the work should finish by the end of July.
Lanspeary Park is currently undergoing a re-imagining.
Last summer, city councillors voted to replace the 72-year-old pool. They hope to reopen it this summer.
That project will take place over three phases. First, the city will replace the pool and its liner. It will replace the building housing public washrooms and mechanical equipment in phase two. Amenities like slides, a beach entry, and shade structures are planned for phase three.
The pool didn't open last summer.
