Street Angels begins footwear drive

A group working to feed and clothe Windsor's vulnerable population has begun a campaign to keep them provided with shoes.

Street Angels, a service of Feeding Windsor Essex, has launched its If The Shoe Fits campaign, which will run every Wednesday through May. Its primary purpose is to provide those experiencing homelessness with comfortable shoes and boots.

"Did you know the average person experiencing homelessness walks approximately 20,000 steps per day, compared to the average housed individual who walks three to 4,000 steps per day?" asked Street Angels Director Merissa Mills.

Street Angels has put the call out for donations of new or gently-used footwear for adults, with all sizes accepted.

Donations can be dropped off at the Street Angels depot at 1240 Pierre Avenue in Windsor. Cash donations will also be accepted to allow for purchasing more footwear.

Complete information about Street Angels Windsor can be found on its official website.
