Calling support "astonishing," the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County is celebrating the success of its second annual Hospice Dove Pins campaign.
Last weekend, 300 hospice volunteers branched out across Windsor-Essex, selling pins to raise money for facilities in Windsor and Leamington. They visited 32 locations, including Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, and Home Hardware. Other businesses, including the Windsor Assembly Plant, hosted boxes.
They collected donations for 15,000 pins, raising $58,500.
"For over 40 years, our hospice has been offering memorable end-of-life care to our community," said Executive Director Nancy Brockenshire. "This weekend was another amazing example of the generosity of our community, from the volunteers who gave their time to the local businesses who stepped up to support to every single person who donated and wore a dove pin."
The pins were designed and manufactured locally, and the funds from the campaign will support care for hospice patients and their families in the region.
Over the past two years, the campaign has raised $93,500.
