Work begins on new Windsor dog park

The City of Windsor is about to start work on a new option for residents' four-legged friends.

Work is scheduled to start next week on the first phase of the new off-leash dog park at Oakwood Park, behind the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

Construction crews will begin work on drainage upgrades, asphalt trails, and concrete pads. Grass restoration will take place once that work is finished. This phase is scheduled to take six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The second phase will begin in the fall when the dog park's fencing will be built. The delay of this phase until autumn is done so the grass can grow properly. The dog park is expected to be ready for public use by the end of this year.

Oakwood Park will stay open, but users are asked to stay away from the construction area.

The City of Windsor currently has five off-leash dog parks open for public use. Complete information can be found on the City's official website.
