Province boosts funding for on-call doctors at Erie Shores Healthcare

Erie Shores Healthcare is getting a $251,929 boost in funding to ensure it can provide after-hours care.

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones said the money would enhance on-call funding for doctors working outside their regular hours at the hospital.

"We believe this will encourage more patients to seek immediate care, knowing that medical assistance is readily available whenever they need it," said Erie Shores Healthcare CEO and President Kristin Kennedy.

Chief of Staff Doctor Luther Heys added, "The increase in on-call funding for physicians will open up greater opportunities for patients requiring urgent care. It's a significant step towards strengthening healthcare accessibility for those who need it most, ultimately leading to enhanced patient outcomes."

The funding aligns with prior agreements with the Ontario Medical Association to boost dedicated funding for on-call doctors.
