Stiles calls for spending in overall healthcare system to fix ambulance shortages

Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles visited the region today to advocate for healthcare funding to end ambulance shortages.

She was joined by Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy, whose council recently unanimously passed a motion urging the provincial government to address gaps in health care.

"We can work together with local leaders across the province, and we can actually deliver change for the community in Windsor-Essex," said Stiles.

Stiles called on the government to put party politics aside and stop addressing healthcare shortfalls with "bandaid solutions".

"What we've seen government after government do in health care is apply band-aids to a massive gaping wound that is getting worse and worse. We need urgent significant solutions," said Stiles.

She says to alleviate pressure on ambulances, the province needs to invest in hospitals, home care, long-term care, and primary health care.

Stiles is also attending a rally Friday afternoon in support of striking Windsor Salt employees.
