Suspect sought after youth sexually assaulted at South Walkerville park

Windsor police are asking the public for help in identifying a man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl at a park over the weekend.

According to investigators, police were called at around 10 p.m. Sunday night about an assault involving a minor. Officers were told the incident happened at Optimist Memorial Park on Ypres Avenue when the girl was approached by a man not known to her.

After a brief conversation, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her and stole several of her possessions before taking off from the park on a bicycle.

The accused is described as White, between 30 to 40-years-old and around 5'8" to 5'11". He is also said to have a slender to medium build with a slender face and cleft chin with short hair, muscular calves and hairy legs. During the assault, he was wearing an off-coloured white hat with no logos, a white t-shirt, beige shorts that reached his knees and black shoes.

The Major Crimes Unit has launched an investigation and are asking everyone who lives in the area near the park to check their surveillance or dashcam footage from June 3 between 8 and 10 p.m. for possible evidence.
