Amherstburg lifts fire ban

Amherstburg's fire chief has rescinded the burn ban throughout the municipality.

After assessing local conditions, Fire Chief Bruce Montone determined that the fire risk has decreased significantly. Montone said current conditions like weather patterns and vegetation moisture levels allowed him to lift the ban.

All former permit requirements are still in effect. Residents should call the campfire hotline at (519) 730-2114 if they intend to have a backyard campfire.

Fires are also allowed again in Tecumseh and LaSalle. Both municipalities have bylaws that do not allow fires during poor air quality warnings issued by Environment Canada. There are no current warnings.
