TWEPI helping people explore the flavours of the region

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island is helping people explore the many cultures in the region with a new digital passport.

The organization has partnered with restaurants to allow residents and visitors to explore food and culture through the Follow the Flavours campaign.

"You can sign up for a free digital pass. We've used these digital passes for other programs and it's a great way for people to explore things that they've never heard of. They can map out and make itineraries," said Lynette Bain, vice president of destination development with Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island.

By signing up for the digital pass, participants have access to information on the restaurant's history and some of their signature dishes.

"We know food tells a story, it tells a story of culture, traditions, history, and these partners that are engaged in this are ready to share that story, they have market-ready experiences and they really want to showcase their culture through their food," said Bain.

To download the digital pass and find out more about participating restaurants visit followtheflavour.ca.

"I think that it really unifies people. The one thing we all have in common is that we all eat and it can really show how we're all so much the same even though we have different backgrounds, different food, different clothes but we all eat and we can show our love for one another and for our community through our food," said Bain.
